პროცესზე ორიენტირებული ინოვაცია ითვალისწინებს ორგანიზაციული პროცესის დიზაინის  ახალი გზებისა და მიდგომების დანერგვას. მაგალითად გამოდგება ადმინისტრაციული რეორგანიზაცია, რომელიც ე.წ. ორგანიზაციის წამყვანი და პერიფერიული ნაწილების მიხედვით ორგანიზაციული პროცესის წარმართვის ნაცვლად მათი ინტეგრირებული მუშაობის პროცესის მოდელირებას გვთავაზობს. აღნიშნული ტიპის ინოვაცია ასევე შესაძლებელია, შეგვხვდეს ორგანიზაციული ან ადმინისტრაციული ინოვაციის სახელითაც. გასათვალისწინებელია, რომ აღნიშნული ტიპის ინოვაციაში აქტიურად განიხილება პროცესზე ორიენტაციის ნაცვლად შედეგზე ორიენტირებული მოდელისკენ გადასვლის ტენდენცია, რომელიც დღეს საკმაოდ  პოპულარულია საჯარო სექტორში და ახალი საჯარო მენეჯმენტის მოძრაობის სახელითა არის ცნობილი.
