Arguments for Women’s Political Participation

ქალთა პოლიტიკური რეპრეზენტაციის მნიშვნელობაზე მსჯელობისას, როგორც წესი,  რამდენიმე მთავარ არგუმენტს გამოყოფენ: 1) სამართლიანობის არგუმენტის თანახმად, ვინაიდან ქალები მოსახლეობის ნახევარსშეადგენენ, სამართლიანი იქნება, რომ ისინი პოლიტიკური თანამდებობების ნახევარს ფლობდნენ. 2) გამოცდილებაზე დამყარებული არგუმენტის თანახმად, ქალებს განსხვავებული გამოცდილებები აქვთ და პოლიტიკურ პროცესებში ამ გამოცდილებების გასათვალისწინებლად აუცილებელია ქალების პოლიტიკურირეპრეზენტაცია. 3) ინტერესებზე დამყარებული არგუმენტი ამბობს, რომ ქალებსა და კაცებს ურთიერთსაპირისპირო ინტერესები აქვთ და ამიტომ მამაკაცებს არ ძალუძთ ორივე სქესის ინტერესების რეპრეზენტაცია. 4) სიმბოლური არგუმენტის მიხედვით, ქალი პოლიტიკოსის არსებობა მნიშვნელოვანია, რადგან ის ერთგვარი მისაბაძი მაგალითი, როლის მოდელიასხვა ქალებისთვის, მიიზიდავს მათ პოლიტიკაში მონაწილეობისკენ და ხელს შეუწყობს ქალების პოლიტიკური რეპრეზენტაციის გაზრდას. 5) დემოკრატიის იდეაზე დამყარებული არგუმენტის მიხედვით, ქალთა და მამაკაცთა თანაბარი წარმომადგენლობა ზრდის მმართველობის დემოკრატიზაციის დონეს.
